History

The Driveway Basketball League was originally created to pass time in the summer and consisted of five members.  The original members were Hayden and Tyler Wenger, Corban and Kyle Roberts, and Landon Honegger.  The origin of the name for this league, Driveway Basketball League (DBL), is unknown although it has always been a part of the epic games.  The fourth season is expected to begin this year.  In the first season the unofficial champion was Landon Honegger.  In the second season, 2012, Hayden Wenger and Landon Honegger were tied for first headed into the final stretch of the season when a lockout ended the season.  Although the season ended in a lockout it was clear the DBL was growing in popularity and it was necessary to expand.  The executive decision was then made to welcome rookies Thomas Huisman and Alex Duffy into the league.  However, despite the leagues growth Kyle Roberts announced his retirement on August 5th, the final league night of the 2012 DBL season.  Kyle Roberts decided to pursue a new life both on the farm and on the baseball field.  The 2013 season was recently concluded as Hayden Wenger swept Landon Honegger in the first official DBL Finals.  While 2012 brought great popularity to the league 2013 took the DBL to another level.  The household name, DBL, began to sweep across Central Illinois and leagues such as the 'BBL' quickly plagerized and took after our legendary league.  Also the increased attention required the league to once again add two more players.  These players came in the form of Luke Hale and Kyle Roberts.  Kyle Roberts decided that after two seasons away from the league he wanted to restart his career.  Ultimately Kyle realized that he wasn't cut out for the farm life and after going 0 for 4 with 4 strikeouts against the local 9U baseball team it was time to hang up the cleats and return to the DBL.  Luke is just now joining the league, but has been a prospect since 2012.  Luke was expected to debut in the 2013 season, but after mishandling 45 lb. weights in the local gym and failing to read the instuctors manual of his trampoline he was placed on the DBL DL with a broken ankle and one less finger.  Now that the league has expanded to eight players we expect the 2014 season to be exciting and make even more DBL history.
